“Ryanair Urges Implementation of Anti-Drone Measures for Easter Travel Amid Airport Disruptions”
Ryanair has called for anti-drone equipment to be installed at Dublin Airport ahead of the Easter holidays, following six incidents of illegal drone activity causing flight suspensions and delays. The Dublin Airport Authority has been granted permission to install new anti-drone technology, but Ryanair has called on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan and the airport authority to confirm whether it will be operational in time for the peak holiday season. In 2018, drone sightings at Gatwick Airport caused around 1,000 flights to be cancelled or diverted across three days. New legislation prohibits unauthorised drones from being flown within 5km of any airport boundary.
