“Revolutionizing the Drone Industry: UK Company Unveils Cutting-Edge Electric Jet Engines for Commercial Use”
Greenjets, a UK company founded in 2022, is shaking up the aviation industry with their revolutionary electric jet engines. Their first engine, the IPM5, is perfect for small unmanned aircraft, weighing in at just 750g/1.6lb and providing a maximum thrust of 5kgf/11.0lbf at an impressive efficiency of 360W/kgf. The IPM5 boasts a ducted fan architecture, which not only reduces noise but also increases safety compared to open bladed propellers. Greenjets has patented several features that tackle weight and efficiency challenges commonly faced by ducted fans. The company is also using this technology to develop engines for eVTOL and regional aircraft.
Anmol Manohar, Greenjets’ CEO, said, “Our team combines decades of knowledge in traditional jet engines from Rolls-Royce, expertise in volume production of automotive engines from Cosworth and expertise in electrification from the UK Motorsport Valley. This unique combination puts us in a prime position to be a world leader in ultra-quiet and ultra-efficient engines.” Guido Monterzino, Greenjets’ CTO, added that their business model is different from their rivals as they can offer both off-the-shelf products and bespoke engines that match customers’ specific requirements for weight and thrust thanks to their proprietary design systems and manufacturing methods.

While the electric jet engines may be cutting-edge, they do little to address the pressing safety, integration, and noise pollution issues plaguing the commercial drone industry.
