“Unmanned Aerial Warfare: A Look into the Future with Ukraine’s Drone-on-Drone Dogfight”

Drones are often associated with spying and military operations, but Ukraine is demonstrating a new use for these unmanned aerial vehicles – taking down other drones.

According to reports, the Ukrainian military has successfully used a small cheap FPV drone to intercept a much larger more expensive Russian drone, causing it to crash.

This innovative (although basic) approach could prove useful in future conflicts, as drones become more prevalent on the battlefield.

While the details of Ukraine’s new ‘Drone Army programme are not yet clear, other countries have also been experimenting with ways to counter the threat posed by drones. The US military, for example, has developed a range of anti-drone technologies, including jamming devices and lasers. Meanwhile, companies like DJI and SkySafe are developing drone-catching drones that can capture rogue UAVs mid-flight.

As drones continue to evolve and become more sophisticated, it’s likely that we’ll see more and more innovative approaches to drone warfare.

The Ukrainian World Congress said on its site: “To make the Ukrainian military stronger and save thousands of defender lives, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ukrainian presidential fundraising platform UNITED24 are assembling an Army of Drones in cooperation with the Ukrainian World Congress!”

The UWC continued: “This is a complex program that involves drone procurement, delivery, maintenance and replacement, as well as pilot training.
