Underwater Police Drone Captures Curious Alligator Latching On in Video Footage

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida recently captured footage of an alligator attacking their underwater drone during a marine unit training session in Fort Myers.

The video shows the alligator swimming up to the device before quickly latching on. Alligators can be found in all 67 counties of Florida, living in marshes, swamps, rivers, and lakes. As the human population in the state has grown, there have been more frequent interactions between humans and alligators, leading to a higher potential for conflict, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

  1. This underwater police drone got more than it bargained for when a curious alligator decided to take a bite. Just another day on the job in Florida.
